PEARLAND (September 15, 2016)

Pearland ribbon cutting ceremony High-Risk Pregnancy CareMemorial Hermann Pearland Hospital and maternal-fetal medicine specialists with McGovern Medical School at UTHealth are now offering a High-Risk Pregnancy Clinic close to home.

The High-Risk Pregnancy Clinic at Memorial Hermann Pearland is the only one of its kind in the Pearland area offering high-level obstetrical ultrasound including 3-D imaging, prenatal testing, genetic counseling, and high risk pregnancy consultation. The clinic also offers co-management for maternal diabetes and hypertension, and management of other medical or obstetrical conditions.

“High-risk pregnancies are on the rise in the United States and the need for specialized and personalized care is essential to ensure the best possible outcome for both mom and baby,” says Dr. Sean Blackwell, maternal-fetal medicine specialist and chairman of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. “We are thrilled to be able to partner with Memorial Hermann to provide high-risk pregnancy care for women close to home, close to their own physicians and close to their own hospital.”

Patients who are deemed high-risk often require frequent visits to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist.

“There are limited options for this high level of care in the community and our goal is to provide convenient access to specialized services for our patients,” says Mario Garner, Senior Vice President and CEO, Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital.
