SUGAR LAND, TEXAS (April 27, 2017)

Pink in the Park group paintingMemorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital and the defending Atlantic League Champion Sugar Land Skeeters will team up for Pink in the Park, Friday, May 12 at Constellation Field in Sugar Land. Join the Skeeters and proudly wear your pink as they take on the Lancaster Barnstormers in the “Pink Out” game starting at 7:05 p.m.

Memorial Hermann Sugar Land is teaming up with MD Anderson Cancer Center to honor breast cancer survivors on the field during the game. A silent auction will be held for fans to bid on baseball bats painted by Skeeters players to support breast cancer awareness. Pink jerseys and cleats worn by the players during the game will also be up for bid in the silent auction.

“It is truly an honor and a privilege to recognize and celebrate these individuals who inspire us all with their strength and courage,” said Greg Haralson, Sr. Vice President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. “Cancer affects so many in our area and it is truly a powerful image to see the stadium filled with pink as we all come together to educate and raise awareness for breast cancer and its impact on families in our community.”

Proceeds from Pink in the Park will be used to enhance the breast cancer services offered through MD Anderson Breast Care with Memorial Hermann-Sugar Land, including digital mammography for screening and diagnostics and the cutting edge 3-D breast tomosynthesis. This digital technology can detect smaller breast tumors that may be missed by traditional mammography. The technology is particularly beneficial for women with dense or fatty breast tissue.
