Dr. Damaris Vega, MD

Dr. Damaris Vega earned her undergraduate degree in general science from Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico and her medical degree at the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, mineral and metabolism at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.

In practice in Dallas and Houston since 2008, Dr. Vega is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes, mineral and metabolism. She sees patients 18 and older and speaks Spanish. Her primary clinical interests are weight loss management and modern diabetes treatments, including insulin pumps and sensors.

Her practice offers a variety of diabetes treatment options, as well as staff dietitians and diabetes educators who help patients develop comprehensive plans--including diet and lifestyle modifications--to meet their goals and reduce reliance on medication. She also provides laser treatments for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) patients who suffer from unwanted hair (hirsutism).

Patients value the time Dr. Vega spends to provide not only care, but also guidance on treatment and affordable medication.

Dr. Vega is married and lives in Houston. Her favorite leisure activity is watching her two boys play baseball.
