Rafael Moncayo, MD, received his medical degree from Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia, and completed his residency at Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Houston, Texas.

Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Moncayo treats patients from 6 years old to adults. Fluent in Italian and Spanish, he sees patients with acute illnesses and chronic diseases, and provides immunizations and annual child and adult physicals. His clinical interests include diabetes, hypertension and dementia.

Approachable and compassionate, Dr. Moncayo considers himself a health adviser to his patients. “I like to sit down with my patients, listen to their concerns and establish a treatment plan that will enhance their wellbeing,” said Dr. Moncayo.

Although Dr. Moncayo enjoys many aspects of his job, one of the most rewarding parts of practicing medicine for him is seeing a patient grow and make progress toward a healthier lifestyle.

In his spare time, Dr. Moncayo enjoys playing tennis, exercising and spending time with his family.
