Dr. Alfred A. Mansour III joined the department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston in 2012. He is board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and obtained his subspecialty certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He completed a pediatric orthopaedic fellowship with special emphasis on hip preservation at Children's Hospital Colorado followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Steadman-Hawkins Clinic Denver, serving as an assistant team physician to the Denver Broncos Football Club and Colorado Rockies Baseball organization. Dr. Mansour currently serves as a team physician for the Houston Texans NFL Football Club after serving seven years as a team physician for the NBA Houston Rockets.

His dual-fellowship training has given him unique qualifications in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine, as well as equipped him to provide the full complement of hip preservation surgery, including hip arthroscopy, surgical hip dislocation, and periacetabular osteotomy.

He has been listing multiple years as Top Doctors in Texas Rising Star Recognition as published in H-Texas and Top Doctors in Houstonia Magazine for his work in orthopedic surgery.

He graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University while becoming a seven-time NCAA All-American swimmer and finalist for NCAA National Scholar Athlete of the Year. He then attended Louisiana State University Medical School at New Orleans, serving as Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society president.

He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where he acted as administrative chief resident and received the prestigious CANDLE award for medical student teaching.

His clinical and research interests include pediatric trauma, adolescent and young adult hip deformity and preservation, and sports medicine. He has presented his research at multiple national orthopaedic meetings and has publications in a number of major medical journals.

Dr. Mansour currently serves as director of the Comprehensive Hip Preservation Program at McGovern Medical School and Director of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Children’s Memorial Hermann. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, ISHA-The Hip Preservation Society, and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.
