HOUSTON (January 05, 2014)

Join us in congratulating our very own cardiac rehab patient, Mr. Bernard "Bud" Schiffman, who turned 100 years old on January 5, 2014! Bud has dedicated his life to healthy living, attributing his good health to both eating right and consistent exercise. At the age of 92, Bud participated in the BP MS 150 which is a 180-mile bike ride from Houston to Austin. Since then, he has completed the long ride three times.

Bud’s health is such a great example that Dr. Carmel Dyer, geriatrician at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and professor of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine at UTHealth, asked him to speak with the medical students about healthy living and how it leads to mental and physical well-being. Bud was in his 60’s when he recognized the need to live a healthier life and immediately adopted better eating habits. At the age of 90, Bud began exercising more extensively, going to the gym 5 times a week. With such determination and healthy living, there is no doubt Bud is one of the healthiest 100 years olds around.

Please join us in wishing Bud a very Happy and Healthy 100th Birthday. He will be celebrating his hundredth birthday at the Hotel Granduca.
