HOUSTON (April 06, 2015)

Physicians from UTHealth Medical School, affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Institute at the Texas Medical Center (MNI), will be among presenters at the 1st Annual Pediatric Neuroscience Symposium to be held from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.

Jointly presented by Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Institute at the Texas Medical Center and UTHealth Medical School, the seminar will take place at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Hermann Conference Center, located on the ground level of the Hermann Pavilion.

The one-day conference for pediatricians and other pediatric clinical providers will address current and changing concepts in the care of children with neurological conditions. Learning objectives include:

  • Being better able to recognize and diagnose neurological problems in pediatric patients
  • Incorporating guidelines for more effective management of pediatric patients with neurological diseases in an office practice
  • Identifying available alternatives in the treatment of neurological disease in infants and children

Presenters include: David Sandberg, MD, UTHealth pediatric neurosurgeon and director of pediatric neurosurgery at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and MNI; Ian Butler, MD, UTHealth pediatric neurologist and director of the Division of Child & Adolescent Neurology at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and MNI; Stephen Fletcher, DO, UTHealth pediatric neurosurgeon affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and MNI; Rebecca Girardet, MD, UTHealth pediatrician and director of the Division of Child Protection Pediatrics at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hosptial; Jeremy Lankford, MD, UTHealth pediatric neurologist affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and MNI; Manish Shah, MD, UTHealth pediatric neurosurgeon affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and MNI; Nivedita Thakur, MD, UTHealth pediatric neurologist affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital; and Gretchen Von Allmen, MD, UTHealth pediatric neurologist and director of the  pediatric epilepsy program at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and MNI.
