Maria Woodside, APRN, FNP-C

After earning her Bachelors of Science in Biological Science from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, Maria Velez-Woodside, APRN, FNP-C, received both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston (UTHealth). As an adolescent, Maria had the opportunity to shadow nurses in the operating room, from that moment she knew she wanted to help heal people and pursue a career in the medical field.

Board certified as a family nurse practitioner, she treats male and female patients ages 2 and up for urological conditions. Maria sees patients for urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, urinary incontinence, overactive bladders, prostate issues, elevated PSAs, low testosterone, blood in urine, as well as pre-operative and post-operative care.

Patients in west Houston take comfort in seeing Maria because of her warm personality and extensive surgical nursing background. With a kind and compassionate demeanor, she listens carefully to her patients’ concerns to ensure she understands and can help educate them on their plan of medical care. Maria’s primary goal is to improve patient’s health while they are under her care.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her family, hiking, cooking and practicing yoga.
