Advanced practice provider Morgan Stackhouse is board certified as an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP-BC), critical care registered nurse (CCRN) and a cardiovascular registered nurse (CVRN-BC). She also holds certificates in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and basic life support (BLS).

Morgan earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Lamar University in Beaumont and her master’s in adult gerontology acute care nursing practice at Texas Woman’s University in Houston. Her professional experience includes cardiac intensive care, cardiac catheterization lab, and cardiovascular surgical care.

Although being a caretaker comes naturally to Morgan after caring for her special-needs brother and a grandfather with late-stage cancer, her special interest in cardiology was sparked by a friend who was diagnosed with a congenital heart disorder. Her special clinical interests are cardiovascular disease prevention, heart disease in women, coronary artery disease and critical care. She loves cardiology because many aspects of heart disease are preventable and she finds ample opportunity to educate patients on how to live healthier lifestyles. As a result, teaching patients how to best manage their health and making an impact on their quality of life are, for her, the most rewarding parts of her profession.

Morgan’s approach to patient care is based on her belief in listening more than speaking and being proactive with health. She understands that patients’ health problems are anything but routine; they can be life-changing experiences that require a healthcare provider to use an empathetic and holistic approach. Her goal is to spend enough time with patients that they never feel rushed or unheard, to address any concerns they may have and to prevent future illness.

In her leisure time, Morgan enjoys spending time with friends and family, fitness, traveling, reading and baking.
