Dr. Mark Pidala earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed a residency at Summa Health System-Akron City Hospital, followed by a residency and fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Dr. Pidala, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, is board certified in both general surgery and colon and rectal surgery. He has been in practice since 1990. Dr. Pidala performs all surgeries on the colon, rectum and anus, as well as routine and advanced colonoscopies. One of the first colon and rectal surgeons in Houston to perform minimally invasive laparoscopic colon resections, he has extensive experience in both laparoscopic and robotic colon and rectal procedures.
His patients say they feel confident they are receiving the best care and soundest advice. They describe him as a very knowledgeable, extremely caring surgeon who communicates honestly with them.
Dr. Pidala also is an assistant professor of surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
