Dr. Stephen Fletcher earned his medical degrees at the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School/Hermann Hospital and Oklahoma State University/Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School/Dallas Children’s Hospital.

Board certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Fletcher’s primary clinical interests are brain tumors and vascular disorders in children. His research interests include Chiari Malformation, brain tumors in humans and animals, congenital anomalies and fetal neurosurgery. He serves as associate professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. He treats patients from fetus to young adulthood and some adults. In practice since 1980, Dr. Fletcher formerly was the chief of surgery at Kingwood Medical Center.

Dr. Fletcher’s practice philosophy is based on seeing patients in an expeditious manner and providing the highest standard of care possible. He is highly accessible and spends time with patients, helping them to understand their conditions. His practice offers an entire spectrum of pediatric neurosurgery, including fetal surgery. A plus for his patients is his association with UTHealth, as well as his ongoing research in a variety of pediatric neurosurgery problems.

A resident of Houston, Dr. Fletcher is married and has three children and five grandchildren. His favorite leisure activities are flying, swimming and biking.
