Dr. Sonia Chauhan, MD

Dr. Sonia Chauhan earned her medical degree at Gandhi Medical College in India. She completed her residency in general pediatrics at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Chauhan completed her fellowship in neonatology through Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan.

 Board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, Dr. Chauhan has practiced medicine in Houston since 2001. Her clinical interests include all aspects of pediatric health including physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. She cares for normal newborns, those that are acutely or chronically ill and those that require long-term specialty care. 

Dr. Chauhan believes in responding to families’ concerns through open communication and compassionate care. She welcomes prenatal visits to address any questions and provides anticipatory guidance as a complimentary service to expecting parents. She enjoys building long-term relationships with each patient and their families. She treats patients from infancy through adolescence and speaks Hindi.

 In addition to treating patients, Dr. Chauhan is an executive board member of the Fort Bend Medical Society and a member of the Texas Medical Society. She has been voted “Best Female Physician” and “Most Responsive Physician” by Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital and she has won the Sugar Land Sun Reader’s Choice Award for “Best Pediatrician.” Dr. Chauhan has also served as chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics and Medical Director of the NICU and nursery at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital.
