Dr. Aparna Surapaneni, MD

Aparna Surapaneni, MD, received her BS in Material Science and Engineering from MIT and an MS in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. She then went on to complete her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical School and an internship in the Department of Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. She returned to SUNY Downstate Medical Center for residency where she was a Chief Resident in the Department of Radiation Oncology in Brooklyn, NY. She joins Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital after having worked at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ as an attending physician in Radiation Oncology.

While at Saint Barnabas, Dr. Surapaneni initiated a stereotactic body radiation therapy program to treat early stage lungs cancer and oligometastatic disease to the spine, liver and lung. Her research work during residency led to several oral and poster presentations at the Radiological Society of North America, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology and American Radium Society annual conferences. Her research regarding prostate cancer outcomes has been published in several peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Surapaneni’s clinical interests include the treatment of breast cancers, head and neck malignancies and lung cancer.
