New Realities, Unwavering Care

Your health and safety are always our main priority. As healthcare processes change and our community begins to adapt to a new normal, we want to let you know about the enhanced safety measures Memorial Hermann has put in place to make your inpatient and outpatient appointments as safe as possible.

To continue to provide high-quality care, we have implemented a number of protective measures for the health and safety of our patients, workforce and community:

  • Temperature screenings for all who enter Memorial Hermann facilities
  • Masks for all who enter Memorial Hermann facilities, including staff and physicians
  • Expanded testing capabilities for our patients and workforce
  • Measures that ensure our workforce has an ample supply of personal protective equipment
  • Proper hand hygiene and other protective measures are practiced and encouraged
  • Rigorous sanitizing process for all facilities
  • Enforcement of social distancing protocols
  • 'No visitor’ policy to limit potential exposure
  • SafeWait™ process, which enforces social distancing in our waiting areas and staggered scheduled appointments
  • Admitted patients are tested for COVID-19 prior to admission and screened for symptoms during their hospital stay
  • When therapy is conducted in a public space, measures will be taken to maintain social distance

During this time, one thing has become increasingly clear—health and wellness are gifts, and are worth prioritizing. Memorial Hermann stands ready to be your partner in that pursuit.

Virtual Care

Virtual care services are more convenient and accessible for patients who may not be able to receive therapy services, in the traditional fashion, due to limitations imposed by the ongoing COVID pandemic.

Patients who may benefit from these services are those who are living in nursing facilities, patients with transportation issues and patients who are immunocompromised. These patients will now be able to benefit from virtual care options at TIRR Memorial Hermann.

Prevention and Treatment

Currently, no vaccine is available to protect against COVID-19. It is spread through person-to-person contact, and often cannot be traced to relevant travel history or contact with another known patient. Stay home when you are sick and call your provider. Avoid contact with anyone who is sick.

  • Avoid all nonessential travel and large crowds, especially when receiving treatment. If you must go in public, wear a cloth mask to minimize your chance of exposure.
  • Wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. If soap and water is not available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% ethanol, or 7% isopropanol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mmouth and cover your coughs and sneezes.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces often.

When to Seek Medical Attention

According to the CDC, consult your physician if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath, chest tightness
  • Dry cough
  • Bluish lips, confusion
  • Aches, pains, fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Nasal congestion or runny nose

As we continue to navigate this pandemic, our patients remain our top priority. Thank you for choosing Memorial Hermann.

We understand you have a choice when deciding where to receive treatment, and we thank you for trusting us to care for you.
